Axis: the Praxis blog

What happens when we write? Why do we teach writing the way we do? How does writing education engage with questions of race, gender, accessibility, and cultural difference? How does the writing center function as an interdisciplinary space?

Axis extends the writing center conversation from Praxis, our peer reviewed scholarly journal, into a public forum. Exploratory, experimental, and informative, the blog speaks to questions on the cutting edge of writing center theory and practice. Axis features writing from undergraduate and graduate educators at the University of Texas at Austin, and guest writers from universities across the United States.

We here at Praxis are proud to present our Spring 2022 regular issue, available as a PDF and web-based individual articles as always, open-access, on our website.

This issue brings together perspectives and research that demonstrate the significance of considering the goals and course of action that writing center practitioners employ to improve their centers. The columns and articles in this issue hinge on concerns about guidance, strategy, and goals, and they ask us to (re)consider our approaches to various practices within the writing center from the way we conduct sessions to how we approach designing our spaces.

Finally, we here at Praxis want to moment to thank our readers and our most brilliant and diligent review board for their continued support. We’re all so grateful to be here with the writing center community, and we thank you all for being part of it, too.
